Data Product:
A data product is a product or service whose value is derived from using algorithmic methods on data, and which in turn produces data to be used in the same product, or tangential data products. For example, at large web-based retail organizations like Amazon, shopping carts are used not just to process transactions, but also to collect customer purchase data over time, which the shopping system then uses to recommend other products to a customer. The self-learning Nest thermostat records user settings, and changes made to the settings over time, and develops a program for controlling heating and cooling, then modifies that program in light of new information.
